Yoga

Our private and group yoga sessions provide a wonderful way for a woman to experience the many physical benefits of yoga, including increased flexibility and lubrication of joints, ligaments and tendons, detoxification of the body and toned muscles. In addition to yoga’s positive influence on the body, there is also the increased spiritual awareness that comes from stretching and relaxing muscles in a calm, soothing environment. Many of the participants of our yoga classes report a heightened sense of balance and well being. Women’s Yoga
Practice the science and art of self-illumination through yoga. These yoga classes address the specific needs of a woman’s physiology. Yoga therapy promotes physical, mental and spiritual health for women at any stage of life.

Women’s yoga classes are held on Sundays 11:15 am-12:15 pm

Prenatal Yoga
During pregnancy, yoga is an essential activity. In the prenatal yoga classes, we practice poses that strengthen and relax the body, as well as help alleviate some of the associated discomforts. Using meditation and breathing techniques, fears are addressed as we prepare mentally and emotionally for a conscious awareness of childbirth and motherhood. Challenging, yet relaxing, these yoga classes are empowering for the pregnant woman.

Jane Silane is a certified Jivamukti Yoga instructor, a Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher, and a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Instructor. She specializes in prenatal yoga therapy, finding in it the very definition of yoga. Jane works with women at every stage of life, and modifies her classes to suit the students’ needs. She encourages women to tap into their inner wisdom, which guides them through life, so that they can make choices that are truly right for them. Jane teaches for Valley Hospital and is on staff at the Prenatal Yoga Center in NYC. Jane was director of the prenatal/postnatal yoga program at Jivamukti Yoga Center and even designed the prenatal curriculum for their Teacher Training Program. In her earlier days, Jane was a professional dancer, actress and Radio City Rockette.

Jivamutki Yoga integrates the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of yoga practices into a modern lifestyle without losing sight of the ancient and universal goal of the practice, which is liberation. Jivamukti means “living liberated” in Sanskrit. A Jivamukti Yoga class is both vigorous and spiritual and pushes beyond the limitations imposed by the mind.
